GOLDEN #3 SORGHUM PRESS A horse or a mule walked in circles to power the mill which squeezed the juice from stalks of molasses cane. The cane was inserted large end first, the juice was run into a container and pressed stalks were discarded. The juice was then cooked in a large, flat pan and the result was sorghum molasses.

The Goldens' No. 1 (New Model, Slide 8) is the smallest of the Goldens' mills, weighing only 375 pounds and having 5-inch-long rollers. Ken Womble suggested it might look nice on a charm bracelet! In the Goldens' 1-4 series, the roller length and small-roller diameter increase by 1 inch, whereas the king roller-diameter increases by 2 inches.
